The hospital is one of the largest comprehensive capacity hospitals in Taizhou municipality. Being a 3B hospital and philoinfant hospital, it is located in HengjiePlaza, Huangyan district, and covers a land area of more than 40,000 M2, a construction area of over 100,000 M2, and it is an important base for the medical treatment, teaching, research, sanipractice and rehabilitation in Taizhou area. And the hospital is also well-known for its satisfying the patients with first-class services and easing the patients with graceful environment. The hospital has 13 executive departments, 41 clinical departments and 21 departments of medical technology. There are 1105 staffs, including 97 holding senior titles and 274 attending doctors, among whom 27 have master degrees. The hospital has 710 opening beds with occupancy rate of more than 110%, provides service to more than 750,000 outpatients, 4,000 surgical operations and 23,000 discharges in 2006, and these numbers are growing year after year.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is municipality key department, and Departments of General Surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery are municipality quasi-key department. Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Pediatrics and Anesthesiology are hospital key principles. There are several well-known medical centers like minimally-invasive surgery, laparoscopically gynecological surgery, tumor hyperthermia, ophthalmologic quasi-molecular laser operation, hyperbaric oxygen chamber and cardiology.

The hospital is one of the biggest teaching hospitals for medical students in Taizhou municipality, and more than 200 medical students receive their medical training each year. The hospital undertakes nearly 10 continuing medical education programs every year, and it offers clinical training programs for doctors and medical professionals from Zhejiang province and abroad. Because of its outstanding contribution to the training of medical students, the hospital became teaching hospital of Wenzhou MedicalCollege in 1995, teaching hospital of Zhejiang Higher Medical Education College in 1997, teaching hospital of Nanchang University School of Medicine and Jiujiang MedicalCollege in 2002.

In recent years the hospital has undertaken over 100 scientific research projects of all kinds, including projects from Zhejiang Bureau of Public Health, Taizhou municipality and Huangyan district government. And also the hospital won several scientific awards conferred by Zhejiang province, Taizhou municipality and Huangyan district government. At the same time, more than 100 scientific papers were published in professional journals at home and abroad, and many papers were indexed in SCI, IM, EM, and other world-famous index system.

Because of its outstanding contribution to the medical treatment, teaching, research and rehabilitation in Taizhou area, the hospital was conferred as civilized unit by Zhejiang provincial government in 1996, and in 1995 the hospital was conferred as philoinfant hospital by World Health Organization and United Nations Child Foundation.
